Go West

On the back of some chunky new business wins, we're growing in Scotland. Four years on from the launch of our Edinburgh office we’re opening a base in Glasgow.   It may only be 40 miles down the M8, but they’re a world apart.   With plenty of clients already based in Glasgow based, we’re staffing up and ready for action.

Consolidated wins environmental award

Its official! Consolidated has been recognised as one of the greenest businesses in London at an award ceremony last night. At a sparkling event in Holborn, Consolidated picked up the

Most Improved Green Business in Camden award, fighting off some stiff competition from more established businesses in the borough.

We pride ourselves on offering our clients advice on green

communications and now we can show that we don't just talk the talk and we're very pleased that the work we do to cut our own carbon emissions has been recognised. The recycled trophy takes pride of place in our trophy cabinet and we reckon our competitors must be green with envy…

Battling cancer in Scotland

NHS Health <country-region w:st="on">Scotland</country-region> has hired us to handle PR for <country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Scotland</place></country-region>’s HPV immunisation programme, which will help to prevent cervical cancer. In one of the country’s largest preventative health care initiatives ever seen, <country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Scotland</place></country-region> is starting a routine immunisation programme for girls aged 12-13 from September 2008. The programme will be delivered largely through schools, and will protect girls against types 16 and 18 of HPV, the two high risk types which are known to cause up to 70% of cervical cancers. Worldwide, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer affecting women and currently accounts for over 100 deaths in <country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Scotland</place></country-region> each year. As public information campaigns go, this is right up there.

It’s public knowledge

We’ve been appointed to handle the launch the Scottish Information Commissioner’s 2007 Annual Report. This is Kevin Dunion’s eagerly awaited report where he lifts the lid on freedom of information activity in Scotland. We’ve had a sneak preview and its scorching stuff.

New Chairman for Consolidated

Tim Adams, joint founder and former chairman and co-chief executive of Lexis, has been appointed Chairman of Consolidated. Tim founded Lexis in 1992 and successfully grew the agency until selling it in an MBO in 2002. He remained with the agency until 2003 when he set up his own consulting business. Tim's experience will be invaluable to us and we're looking forward to working with him.

Preventing childhood accidents

In February this year the Audit Commission published a report into how the Government could help reduce the number of household accidents involving children – with help from our public affairs team. The report illustrated that incidence of injuries were higher in lower socio-economic groups.

This week, the Government has announced that it is launching an £18m scheme to help the most vulnerable families keep their children safe from accidental injuries at home. This is a fantastic result for the Audit Commission, who were directly credited by the government for raising the issue.

Pre-budget report

Check out the Consolidated blog for the latest news and views as the new Chancellor of the Exchequer presents one of the toughest set-piece events New Labour has ever had to face. With money for education and defence already allocated, continued increases for international development funding immovable and the NHS ever thirsty for cash, there may be a host of government targets and initiatives that will inevitably suffer as a result of today’s spending settlement.

Edinburgh office sea-legs

When Earthrace powered into Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal, we just knew we had to get involved.

Looking like something out of Batman meets Bond, this magnificent 80 foot vessel is aiming to break the record for circumnavigation of the globe by a powerboat next year. It's 100% run on biodiesel and has net zero carbon-footprint. For the tech heads amongst you, it’s the first tri-hull wavepiercer ever built and has been designed to go up to seven metres underwater as it submarines through waves.  It’s been fawned upon the world over (apart from Colombia where it was fired at by the navy).

We liked it so much that one of the team and a couple of clients even hitched a lift up to Aberdeen. All in a day’s work.

Brown's Draft Legislative programme

Is Gordon Brown's Government different to Tony Blair's Government? Gordon Brown is certainly trying to prove this is the case with the announcement today of the draft legislative programme for the next Parliament - provided to Parliament 4 months before the Queen's speech! There's plenty of meaty topics up for debate in the programme including new laws for terror suspects and an overhaul of the planning system to assist in the building of more new homes. What do you think of today's announcement? Come and join the debate at
